Disappearing desktop icons

H

HenryE

Core Duo laptop
Vista Home Premium
No desktop-management utilities
Nothing weird as far as I know

Suddenly, and intermittently, I can drag a file or folder from
some location to the desktop and it will disappear from the
source location but not appear on the desktop.

I can force a redraw of the desktop by opening/closing
something, but that doesn't work...

Only a reboot will discover the missing icons - they appear.

To redraw the desktop, just right click on the desktop and click "Refresh".
Should redo all the icons.

Thanks! I thought that was for Vista Ultimate, and someone would
come running with a cold beer.

Hi Henry,

You can also just press F5 to refresh.
