Hello everyone.
So i have an old Windows 7 pc Hp compaq dc5100 SFF that i am trying to fix for my friend and everytime i turn it on it makes it to the desktop and everything and all of a sudden it resets itself and keeps doing it over and over not matter what i do.
things i did to hardware.
1. re-seated everything. I took out the ram then put it back in like it should be.
2. Added new thermal paste to cooler and CPU. it was old and dry so i put on new paste.
3. I took off the cover and let it run with out cover. this eliminated any possible over heat excuse
4. I even Cleaned it out with compressed air and still nothing worked it keeps resetting.
Things i did with software
1. I went into system and recovery and disabled auto restart when system failure(i thought this was the cause at first but keeps restarting. I even did a restart just to make sure.
2. Looked online for a solution(found nothing)
3. tried finding a way to restart it to factory settings(but then i remembered its windows 7 not 8 or 10 where you don't need a disc to reset windows)
things i tried a second and third time.
1. everything above.
I need help here guys I want to fix this not just for my friend who needs it to be windows 7 but I am getting sick of this because i tried literally everything I can't narrow it down to hardware or software please help.
