Hi,
We have recently had the .NET 4.8 update pushed onto a couple of our servers, for the most part, this appears to work fine but there is one server that is now having an issue installing .NET applications. I am not able to even install .NET 3.5 from the server manager.
This is the message that is generated when we attempt to install anything that relies on .NET.
4740 1 FATAL Could not load file or assembly 'System.ComponentModel.Composition, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.
System.BadImageFormatException
The file or assembly that it attempts to load is variable depending on what we are installing.
It is server 2012 R2 and I am not able to remove the .NET install, it looks like it completes and after a restart, it is still in the updates list as KB4486105. I have tried re-installing, using .NET removal tools and other ways to remove it but it still remains.
Any ideas on how to fix are appreciated. Otherwise, I am building a new server.
Thanks,
Mike
