Windowsupdatefailure3, APPCRASH

Hi all,

I need a help from you.


We have few servers running Windows server 2016 Standard with Windows updates switched to MANUAL using SCONFIG.

System is offline (not connected to internet).

After some time, we have realized that application we use is crashing randomly.

I have checked the Event Viewer.

Now we have (5-8 times per day) issues with WindowsUpdateFailure3. During that period of 2 seconds of WindowsUpdateFailure3 we also get APPCRASH information in-between.

WindowsUpdateFailure3 always comes with information mentioned in the screnshoot:






Once or two times per day it really crashes the Application. When it happens, it shows on the screen: Runtime framework has stopped working.


Then it shows error instead of information in Event Viewer.

Then i have checked the log and i have saw: Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll


Application is crashing every time when there are WindowsUpdateFailure3 informations (errors).

I was searching everywhere but i haven't found how to turn off Windows updates completely and stop this errors/informations.

How to solve this?

It looks like APPCRASH is related to Windows updates even if they are set to MANUAL.
