touch pad blues

I am runnig Windows 8. and I have a Toshiba Satellite C-55A5220. I'm having issues with my touch pad. It will cause icons on the desktop to get biger without provocatoion. Also, sometimes the pointer will freeze up and will not respond. Any ideas on how to fix this?
