Hey guys I have discovered a minor Vista bug. I have enable pointer shadows
checked under mouse properties. I have noticed that whenever I exit most
games (for example the DiRT Demo or GRAW2 SP Demo) and go back to the Vista
desktop, the mouse pointer shadows is unchecked under mouse properties. If I
restart my pc, then the correct setting is back. So basically after exiting
the game, Vista for some reason still has the pointer shadows disabled. I
can see why it would disable it to run the game, but it seems to me that it
should go back to enabled after exiting. Thanks.

Sounds like the games on exit are making the appropriate system change (such
as reverting a registry key to its original value), but not refreshing the
system properly. If the games were originally written for XP, then they may
be calling routines that work slightly differently in Vista and would hence
need to be updated.

Hmm... always quick to blame the OS :)

The games are making the change - unfortunately, they don't seem to be
setting it back. Maybe you can find a patch for them from the
manufacturer's website?
