Hi!
As the subject says. (and sorry that I'm not native english speaker nor writer)
I bought a PC few years ago, with preinstalled Windows 10 Home. I made Windows image backup and I'm still able to access those files. But I did "the format c:" on my home computer and installed Linux. Image backup files lays on different partition. And I'm also able to mount those BU images in to Linux FS so I can copy files from there.
The problem;
I have to (well,I really like to) use Autodesk's Fusion 360 at work, and I'm willing to use it at home also. So, I have tried to figure it out how to use it, lets say via Oracles Virtualbox. Or via any other virtual environment.
So, I installed Windows 7 into my VB (not Visual Basic but VirtualBox) (because it was available and smaller to download) Obviously I don't have registration key for Win7.
So the main question;
Can I somehow install my Windows 10 from my imagebackup files made with windows 10 which was running this same hardware, to VM running on that same HW? Or even install it back as only OS writing over all?
This PC was in RAID0 mode at first (don't know if it's soft or hard). Two nvme m.2 ssd's (in raid mode when in Windows) as primary and one biggert sata hdd , where those image backups are.
So;
- Can I find the registration key from those imagebackupfiles? (I don't know if i have the "restore cd" anymore)
- My PC was in RAID0 mode with Windows back then (with 2x256GB nvme m.2 drivers). Does it need to be in same mode to restore W10 imagebackup.
Well I bet You know what I'm onto. Too complicated to even describe for me.
Originally Win10 preinstalled PC with RAID0, now Linux PC in ACHI mode with 2 identical nvme m.2 drives and 1 spinning hdd where the imagebackupfiles are.
I promise that I will love You rest of my love if You give me solution. "Windows10 ImageBackup" -> "Virtual machine on Linux"(and the registration/activation) Yes, sorry about those 40 lnnecessary lines. Just realized that.... One line. I might to start writing a book... About "how not to ask from forums, RTFM" (I red it, there is not mention about it)
