So I am planning on setting up a second domain controller again for the second time and have some questions that I want to ask.
So a few years ago I had two domain controllers and moved the primary one to a physical system. Transferred all the roles and we were good. About a year after doing that the Hard Drive died and I had no backups. Good thing I had not demoted the old Domain controller yet so I was able to seize the FSMO roles back to the old server.
At that point in time I was using Server 2012 R2 on both servers. Now I am looking into using Server 2019 for DC02 and Server 2012 R2 for the primary DC until I can get more systems to use.
What would happen if I moved the FSMO roles to Server 2019 and then has to seize the FSMO roles back to Server 2012 R2?
