I had been running an older (early 2000s) HP slimline tower with an Element tv/computer screen in my living room for the past two years at this new apartment in my living room. Because it's next to the family tv, I decided to move system to the back master bedroom for some quiet. When I plugged tower and monitor into the outlet to the North of the door, if door is South, it booted up with RGB all screwed up, with Windows desktop appearing a Dark Green and the lighter letters and tray that should be gray appearing yellow. Actually, boot up script("Your system was abruptly shut off" or "boot Windows Normally) and the cursor are yellow. Windows desktop that should be blue is dark green.
I tried changing around the outlets in the master bedroom and master bathroom and made sure the VGA male to male was seated securely. It boots up the same Greenish yellow way. One time I was missing one of two of the seating screws that is already fastened on either side of the female input and wiggled the VGA and it flashed normal blue Windows desktop for a split second. This is when I had monitor running from master bath power and HP tower power running from a close by master bedroom outlet. When I took a seating screw from a tv and installed and then reinserted the VGA and seated nice and tight, it was still dark green and I couldn't wiggle to make it flash back to blue.
So I moved to the living room again, but used a different outlet this time. The computer boots up fine, appearing normal blue windows desktop. I did try to wiggle the VGA to tower and for a quick second it went dark green, but then seated properly again, screwing the VGA male screws into the tower video motherboard female input tightly and the screen appeared and stayed normal. Couldn't wiggle again to cause it to flash away from blue to dark green.
I surmise there is something wrong with master bedroom and master bathroom power deficiency and the motherboard, specifically something with the video input on the motherboard.
Sorry for the long message. Anyone know. A tech friend wants me to use test monitor and he thinks it's NOT power, as generally he says power is not the problem, but like I said it boots up fine in 2 or 3 outlets in the living room and stays fine, but when in the master bed and bathroom it is dark green. VGA seated tight and properly in all scenarios.
Thank you
