Hi,
We have two domain controllers, but they have functions like DHCP and DNS.
We are going to install a new domain controller with a new version and we want to ensure minimal reconfiguration.
Does this work?
- Install new domain controller;
- Install DHCP function and import settings from old domain controller on new server;
- Demote the old domain controller;
- Replace the new domain controller IP with the old domain controller IP that has been demoted.
Thus computers using the old IP for DNS and DHCP do not need to be reconfigured.
NOTE: DHCP must be enabled on the domain. Can I do this before changing the IP? Or should I do later?
Thanks.
