We have a fully functioning Sever 2016 Standard Dell Server without the installation media we inherited. We are ordering replacement media, but in the meantime we were getting an exception error in the back-up when it tried to load and when we tried to run a backup from the command prompt. After reading we decided to remove the feature and re-add it. When we we went to re-add from the GUI we got an error that the source could not be found and to specify an alternate source.
We have tried this from the GUI and powershell after loading the Evaluation 2016 Server from Microsoft per Dell specifying the -Source and are still getting the error. We have tried this from a Mount of the ISO image and from an unzip with no luck.
We have tried specifying the -Source with a UNC path and the physical path. We have specified the root of the unzipped directory or the root of the mounted drive as well as the relative path of source\sxs with no luck.
Historically we have tried this with install media with no issues. Any ideas?
The error we get in the GUI is "The request to add or remove features on the specified server failed. Installation of the one or more roles, role services, or features failed. The source files could not be found. Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files required to restore the feature..."
