My Xbox privacy is locked.

I want to play games with my friends, but for some reason when ever I try to change the privacy setting it keeps sending me to the Microsoft support site about "Changing your child's Xbox privacy settings". This is a very new Microsoft account and no one has made a parent account for this account. How do I get by this situation? I'm using the Xbox Console Companion app on my Laptop.
