Hi everyone,
As Windows Server 2008 reached EOL I will need to upgrade to at least 2012 R2 (Heard that direct upgrade to 2016/2019 is not possible).
Currently I have a single domain two site network with a single domain controller in each site (i.e. two domain controllers total). One is currently running Windows Server 2008 R2 as mentioned, the other has already been upgraded to Windows Server 2016 so I guess the AD schema is not an issue.
Since I have a second domain controller do I still take a risk if I try to do an in-place upgrade of the 2008 DC? Is there any further schema prep that I need to do before running the upgrade?
Thank you.
