HyperV Check Point recovery

Hi - If i create a hyperv checkpoint then I got a virus/ransomware attack. The VHD is damaged beyond recover, like c: is encrypted. Is it possible I use the checkpoint to restore the server?

Also what is best way to backup a VHDX file?
