I have a physical Server 2016 box currently running SQL and acting as our application server. I have the resources to run a few VM's but did not want to have Hyper-V running on the SQL host. Instead I was thinking of converting the SQL Server to virtual and creating a Hyper V on itself and then removing all SQL data from the host.
Currently the only way I know how would be to run the P2V utility,import the VM into Hyper V, then start removing SQL Data/roles from the host. Is their an easier way to convert the SQL server to a VM on itself or would this be the only way?
