Windows 8 updates

I've just installed Windows 8 Pro after it was announced that Microsoft has discontinued it's support of Windows 7. After installing it, I have many updates to download for the support of Windows 8. I don't seem to be making any progress of downloading them and installing all of them. Please advise.
