This question pertains to Windows 10 start menu jump lists to access recently opened files (from the windows start menu, when you right click on an app, Windows shows you the most recent files you have opened with that app). This discussion applies equally to jump lists you access via right clicking on an app in the task bar.
In both cases on my system, Windows will display a max of 10 recent items. I use this feature heavily and would like to increase the jump list size to show more than 10 items as was possible in earlier versions of windows
Following the instructions in the thread "JumpListItems_Maximum (Recent Items) applying to Windows Explorer but no other apps. Still limited to 10 recent items.", I used regedit to add a DWORD JumpListItems_Maximum, set to decimal value 20, to the following two registry locations
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
I then rebooted my machine tested opening more files and viewing the jump list size, and Windows is still only showing 10 entries (when right clicking on and app in the start menu or on the task bar)
I am running Windows 10 Pro, Version 1909, OS Build 18363.592
Is anyone else seeing this same issue? Has anyone figured out how to increase the jump list size beyond 10 with the current windows 10 build? I find a larger jump list history to be incredibly useful. Any help you may have would be greatly appreciated
I have included screenshot of my registry changes below
