I had a Lenovo G50-80 laptop to fix. I first installed ESET Smart Security Premium (3rd party) to remove some viruses/trojans from it, then I deleted some unneeded files to free up disk space. I converted the hard disk from MBR to GPT and fix things up.
It was time to install updates. I clicked on the "Check for updates" button and I had a different error. I needed to fix the registry to have the wuauserv service back since it was removed.
I clicked on the "Check for updates" button again and I got, as you can guess from the title, 0x80070005.
I tried to find fixes on the web. These were:
-Add AppData ownership for Everyone.
-Stop/Start BITS, Workstation, Wuauserv, Cryptsvc, and TrustedInstaller
-Delete data from SoftwareDistribution
-Add ownership for registry with subinacl
-Uninstall ESET Smart Security Premium (3rd party)
NOTHING from this list resolved this issue.
Can someone suggest a fix?
