OK to use win10 repair DVD for win8 not booting?

I have been asked to look at a Dell laptop with windows 8 that is not booting "no boot medlia" or somthing like that. Have not received it yet.


I actually have, somewhere, a windows dvd maybe even an 8.1. but more likely an original 8.


Can I use my windows 10 repair or shall I spend some time looking for the "8"
