Hi Greg,
My less than 6 months old Lenova laptop tells me my wireless modem is a qualcomm+atheros+QCA9377.
Where I am staying in Subic the Philippines, my landlord's laptop picks up good signal, four bars. I am in a room underneath his brick home. With my laptop positioned right up against the open window to get 2 bars. And the connection drops in and out.
I did my best speaking with a Filipinos tech in a computer shop, but perhaps lost in translation issues. He seemed to be telling me some modems pick up some signals better than others. And I can't change my modem in my Laptop.
Further to the mystery, my Samsung Galaxy S8 picks up slightly better signal, right against the window. Whereas my landlords mobile picks up three or four bars signal. A Galazy S7.
I am here for four more weeks. Frustrated by the dropping out. The slow speed due to slow signal is not such a big issue.
Are there any settings? Re-installing the driver or a different driver etc? That might improve my signal?
I am relatively computer tech unsavvy, but confident from your profile and help messages I've read, that I can follow your instructions. Worth a try I feel.
