Cannot paste to command line

I cannot paste text into cmd or powershell. I can paste into other
applications. I can paste on other Vista machines, it is only one machine
that is affected. Is there a setting for this somewhere?

Thanks,

Hi Andy

It sounds lie Quick Edit for the console window has been turned OFF (which
is actually the default setting).

Open a Command Prompt
Click the upper left hand icon to get the System menu for the Command Prompt
window.
Choose Defaults
Choose Options tab
Under Edit Modes, select "Quick Edit Mode"
Make sure Insert mode is also selected
Hit OK

Without this turned on, to paste text you need to to the Edit option in teh
menu, and choose Paste ... to paste text. With this setting turned on, you
can paste as you would for any other Window.

If you have Quick Edit enabled, and you still can't paste text, then ...
that's unusual.

Note that in Vista you cannot drag-n-drop text or a file into the Console
window. That facility was removed for security reasons. But you should be
able to paste text, as such.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,

Hold down the control key on your keyboard while typing the letter "v"
into the window.
