XP validation

I have a IBM Thinkpad that runs XP. We use it occasionally to process data collected years ago. The laptop is failing and I created a VHD image. When trying to run the image as a VM it won't let me logon. The validation fails and I need to get these data and the programs.


I bought the computer and OS. How do I get past this lockout?
