Ok, I have a stripped version of aWindows XP Professional XP3 installation disk (from a company that produces an installation disk with this version of XP and the company's own software). I believe it's called a "portable image".
This XP and software installs happily with an HDD and an earlier version of Intel SSD (a Pro 5400S) and I can boot the HDD/Pro 5400s after the installation and everything comes up fine.
However, this XP and software installs onto my target Intel SSD (a D3-S4610 480GB), but will only start to boot from the installed SSD, by which I mean the I see the XP boilerplate appear on the screen, but directly after that, the system reboots.
I have tried changing the configuration of the BIOS (it's an old AMIBIOS version 1.0) using both IDE and AHCI, but with no success.
Let me say that I have successfully installed a full version of XP Professional (SP3) on this SSD. This leads me to think that my "portable image" is missing a driver/drivers and possibly a configuration file.
Does anybody have any ideas why this is not working?
