Windows Firewall suddelny drops TCP 443 packets

Hello everyone,

since yesterday morning the Windows Firewall of a RD-Gateway Server (Server 2012 R2) suddenly start dropping packets over TCP 443 and thus all of our Terminal Server connections were disconnected. We have a HA-Proxy in front of the Gateway for external connections.

Since then when the firewall is on [and it has been on for more than a year] there are no external connections over 443 possible, even with an extra firewall rule allowing connections over TCP 443. But when the firewall is off the packets are not dropped and everything works as it should.

The server settings have not been changed i a while, no windows updates installed and no new GPOs deployed. After troubleshooting we decided to install the latest windows updates, but that did not help either. Read somewhere that turning IPv6 on or off might help, but it didn't and we don't use it right now anyway.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this problem is occurring? I'll be grateful to anyone having suggestions.

Thank you!
