This is a strange one, at least for me.
Environment:
Desktop System: (Asus MB, 32GB Memory, i5 6700)
Samsung EVO 500MB M.2 boot drive
3 internal SATA drives, 1 BluRay read/Write drive
2- 4TB Toshiba,
1 - older 2TB (seagate drive I believe)
Note: older original OS drive with Vista installed on it but not active or set up for dual boot, I just used the drive for additional storage space
1- BD-RE (LG Read Write)
No recent changes to anything internal
I had just recently installed new drivers for an older Line6 Guitar Port audio device that was working. I believe it might be first reboot after doing that. Not sure if relevant but just in case.
- I just had my Win 7 desktop, hang at boot. (at logo).
- Loading system repair disk from CD will start but System Recovery will not find my Win 7 OS. Automatic repair will only find my old Vista OS and offers to repair that which I don't want.
- DISKPART will not list the OS drive (M.2 Boot)
- An earlier Chkdsk attempt (/f) on the OS Drive from command completed but gave an error (failed at end) about not being able to transfer to event log. It seemed to take a long time. It also reported one issue with "unallocated space being reported as allocated-fixed" or similar message. Failed to restart after this.
Yet from command prompt I can change to the OS boot drive, (C list the contents of the drive and navigate to folders on it.
I have also attached my system image backup USB drive to system to aid in restore that after a reboot, can't be found either manually in command prompt changing drive letters or in DISKPART.
Have I lost the MBR on the OS drive or having inconsistent response results from it?
I would like to copy some more recent files off the OS drive to external disk if I could but could copy to current internal drives as well.
But I am unable to see image USB Drive to restore from...
This is a new one to me....
