Lenovo Lynx K3011W Tablet
BIOS Version: K3CN38WW
CPU: Intel Atom CPU Z2760 @ 1.8 GHz
Sys Mem: 2 GB
Storage: 64 GB
Windows: Win8 STD DPK MIDH
I normally would say that I'm a novice, but In the interest of saving a load of time, let's not assume that. Let's pretend I know how to get around a computer really well.
I have posted this problem on several other sites and I keep getting the same responses, so please take anything I say that sounds in any way "smart" or "irritated" as simple frustration because no one seems to read what I write before asking me if I tried the things I've already said I've tried.
I bought this tablet from ebay for spare parts. I decided to see how well it ran. I won't take up all your time trying to explain everything I worked on, with and how I did it.
Final screw up: I wanted to reformat the HD to reinstall Windows 8 from a disk. I accidentally chose to reformat it in FAT32. (Gotta love distractions...) It was reformatting rather slowly, so I stepped away from the tablet for a moment and when I returned, there was a column of repeating "Shell>". Please "listen" to me carefully here!!!
This column is constantly repeating, making it impossible to type anything. It is an infinite column. It is exactly like when that 'x' key on the keyboard gets stuck and starts repeating and you can't get it to stop. No other keys on the board work because the 'x' is stuck. Pretend the key that's stuck is a "Shell>" key. That is exactly where I am.
I can no longer access command prompt.
I have tried every combination of keys. The Auto Repair will NOT show up. It's just the column of "Shell>"
Using power and volume + keys I can get onto a screen that shows me choices of places to boot from, none of which work, and a setup App. The app only takes you to a very limited version of a normal computer's "BIOS"
I have tried every option of changing what this thing boots from, but nothing works. I removed 'Internal Shell' as a boot option and it no longer creates the column, but it won't boot from anything!
I've tried removing battery and draining power.
As this is a tablet, you cannot remove the HDD as it is a part of the motherboard to try to access it through another computer.
My computer does not "see" the tablet when I try to plug it up. I have tried using flash drives and usb disk drives with .ISO, repair programs, diagnostic programs, you name it, but it simply will not recognize anything at all.
I can access an "ADVANCED" section in the app that has selections such as:
Platform Information
IGD Configuration
Processor Configuration
Thermal Configuration
TPM Config
DBGP ACPI
MMC Config
IO Device Control
USB SPH Config
Clear RPMB
SMBIOS Event Log **Please not that while it does list a "view SMBIOS event log", I cannot access it**
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! If anything I've written is unclear or lacking information, please let me know. Right now, I'm at a loss and as I am constantly trying to learn new things, I want to learn how to fix this or at the very least, know why it is NOT fixable!!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!!
