accessing user accounts from start up

REBud25

after a week of wrestling with computer password lock out (LONG STORY and other questions posted elsewhere here)

I now have several User Accounts listed but cannot access them.

At Start Up only one Local User Account (NOT Admin) is shown. I can log into that account and have access to Internet. I can go to PC Settings>Users and I see the other Accounts listed but cannot switch to them.

Ctrl+Alt+Del>Switch User blanks the screen, returns me to the start up screen BUT with only the local account listed and no "back" little arrow to show other users.

More weird is that when in that local account and UAC comes up asking for an Administrator password... I see that Administrator Icon picture & name and I can enter the password to proceed. I DESPERATELY NEED to get into that Administrator ACCOUNT. It's been my main account for years and all my data and personal files are located there. I can't figure out how to even access them to copy them off.

I'm on an Asus laptop and I think I'm running Windows 8 (after doing a Refresh PC to try to solve lock out issue - updating to 8.1 is yet another hurdle in the on-going problem)

I was trying to follow instructions (

) to force windows to display all users at start up

I got as far as scheduling the task but I need to be ALREADY signed and working from an Administrator account which I can't get to because I can't switch to it

Please help. Because of Coronavirus shut down in Ohio... I can't take laptop to Windows Store for help so trying to do it all myself.
