spam email sender field

Some Rolex Replica spam emails sent to me have my email address showing in
email-received-list SENDER field. Many more, in the SENDER field, show my
email address with a small variation such as an added number or an added
letter or a few different letters. Some of these emails are identified in my
email-received-list as having attachments. I never open the email to prevent
activating a virus or spy action it might contain. I receive a lot of these
and most go directly to my spam folder. Does anyone know about such emails?
If so, please explain this technique and possible problems they cause if
opened. Thank you.

Delete any such messages unopened/unread. Period.

Do not open emails from someone you don't know or ones you weren't
expecting.

Do not open attachments you weren't expecting, even if they appear to be
"from" someone you know. When in doubt, as the Sender via a New Message,
not a Reply To the received message.
