F1 key wehn using windows vista to connect into TS on a XP machine

mpinsley

I am using windows vista to connect to an XP machine. I am able to
connect to the host machine but i often get screen errors, but more
importantly i can not get the host machine to recognize the fact that
i am pressing the f1 key...the application that i am using on the host
machine requires f1 for a number of functions (not related to help)

My screen size is 1920 X 1200 (not sure if this matters, but i have
run into problems before)

I have also connected to a host machine using GotoMyPC (Citrix) and i
have the same problem. Is there any work around or settings that i can
change.

Thanks
Mark

Is your session running in full screen?
Check the settings under Local resources - Keyboard in your rdp
client.

how do you connect with gotomypc also from a vista box to an xp box.
for gotomypc there is a update for vista because of several problems
gotomypc runs best on lower screen size , you must have the pop up for
the best resolution for that box you are connecting to.
it can be the screen size that makes the screen crash.
the f1 that doesn't function is strange

hope this helps,

For what it is worth, the F1 key is special for Windows there is special
processing for it. I assume you can't get the software changed, but it would
be a rasonable request that the F1 key not be used in non-standard ways. If
it would help, you could find the Windows UI design document I would expect
it to say that Windows applications should use the F1 key in specific ways.
If the software cannot be fixed, then perhaps it helps to know that the F1
key is special.
