Macromedia Flashpaper

Has any one tried to install Macromedia Flashpaper?

I have not been able to install it on to my machine running Vista Ultimate.

Get the following

Error 1904, Module C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash.ocx failed to
register. HRESULT - 2147220473

Any clues????

Hi Ian,

It is a well-known problem, described in this article from Adobe (who now
own Macromedia)

In short: it doesn't work on Vista and Adobe have no plans to fix it.

There may be some workarounds try asking in the Adobe Flashpaper user
forum:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/index.cfm?NoCookies=Yes

In a worst-case scenario, download and install Microsoft Virtual PC, to set
up an XP Virtual machine running in a Window on your Vista desktop:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx
Then run Flashpaper in the XP VM.

Using the 32bit version of Ultimate.

But it looks like it does not really mater, when you read the reply from
Andrew.

Off to the Macromedia/Adobe forum to see if theres any help there. Will
look at the virtual pc.

Andrew,

Sorry, but you are incorrect. Macromedia Flash (aka Adobe Flash Player) does
work on Vista. I have been using it for many months now with no problems. If
you want it to stay on your system you will have to install it using the
"Standalone Flash Player Installer).

Sorry, but I am correct . You are talking about something else.

The original poster Ian, asked about the Macromedia product called
Flashpaper:

But you are describing the Macromedia Flash Player:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Flashpaper and Flash Player are both part of the general "Flash" family of
products from Adobe, but they are not the same product. Flash Player is a
free download from the Adobe website. Flashpaper is part of Adobe Creative
Suite 2, a large and expensive software product.

You are correct, the Flash PLAYER works okay on Vista, and is supported on
Vista by Adobe.

On the other hand FlashPAPER, which Ian asked about, does *not* work well on
Vista. This is confirmed by Adobe themselves, in the document on their
website:

which I linked to in my earlier post.

Maybe one can manage to get Flashpaper hobbling along on Vista, with
suitable workarounds. But as described in Adobe's own article, there are
known and confirmed problems installing Flashpaper on Vista and they -
Adobe - have no plans to fix it. Their solution is to upgrade to CS3 (quite
an expensive solution).

I appreciate that you're trying to keep a high standard of accuracy in this
group, and that's good. But my previous post is completely accurate and
correct (well, as correct as Adobe themselves). I'd recommend a little bit
of caution, before telling people they are incorrect (especially when they
*are* correct

I am running it on Vista Premium.........I had a little problem with it at
first but went to the website and downloaded and ran the Flash Uninstaller
and then reinstalled and all was well.
I assume you are refering to AndrewE in your reply because I cannot see his
reply..I have him blocked.If it is AndrewE get more than his
opinion.......he is famous around here for wrong answers
