I am working on two HP Z2 G4 Tower Workstations running Windows Server 2016, with the end goal for both of them to be used as hypervisors running Hyper-V. Both of them use the same Ethernet adapter/port, which is an Intel I219-LM.
However, neither workstation can detect the adapter. I've tried to manually install the driver but every time I do, it comes up with "The device cannot start (Code 10)", and when I try to update the driver, it says it was unable to install it because "Windows could not find driver software for your device". I have checked that I'm installing the right driver and in the right device.
I've tried using the Intel Ethernet Connections Boot Utility, as according to this guide, but when I run step 12 it doesn't seem to be able to find the driver component ("unable to locate the driver component. please reinstall program").
