Server 2016 Essentials Backups - Can server 2016 standard read and access.

I have a 2016 essentials server down hard. A ext drive is the backup drive and I believe the server 2016 essentials backup was used.


I have a server 2016 Std in my office and it states there are no backups on the backup drive. .
