Storage Space not working

The issue/challenge/problem I have regards use of W10 Pro Storage Space

· Historically my desktop PC has a 250Gb SSD for all programs & a pair of 1Tb HDD’s for data storage, the latter pair were set up in a mirror format; for a variety of reasons the mirroring was failing & through some 3 months of discussion with Acronis I finally decided to remove the mirroring & manually, once a month, synchronise my 2 HDD’s & then place one off-line. And just to be really sure I don’t lose data, my system is backed up on-line with Carbonite & I also have a couple of 1Tb external USB HDD’s …..

· For a variety of historical reasons my prime HDD is formatted as dynamic NTFS, its partner as standard basic

· Having done some research, it appears the use of Storage Space is ideal for what I need to re-achieve, notably the 2 way mirroring of my HDD’s

· It was my understanding that Storage Space (SS) will work with existing disks containing data

· My first attempt at using SS resulted in an error 'cant create the pool, check drive connection & try again' ; the HDD I was intending to add to the storage pool was then rendered un-formatted

· A few more attempts were made but all with the same result; I am concerned that SS feels my drive connection maybe at fault despite that HDD being fully useable

· So, is the fact that the primary HDD is in ‘dynamic’ format upsetting the system or ….?

· Whilst I am happy to experiment with solutions to this problem, I am avoiding the re-formatting of my primary HDD as it is the location of my Outlook data & , perhaps more importantly some 300Gb of music & having to re-populate WMPlayer is time consuming …… However I will re-format this HDD if you feel it is critical

I hope the above information gives you an idea of ‘where I’m at’ & I’d fully appreciate some guidance from you in how to utilise SS which appears to be an ideal data management solution.

Thank you for your time & I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Kind regards
