Annoying Price Discrepancy

Yada yada what the market will bear 'n all that, but I do think it is
getting unfair.

The Canadian dollar is roughly par with the U.S. dollar and has been for
some time now. However, Amazon charges U.S. residents much much less than
Canadian residents for the very same product.

To be honest, I think it is time Canadian retailers, perhaps in conjunction
with Microsoft, lower the price of Windows for Canadian customers.

I'm sure I could be wrong and if you live in Canada, you probably know
better than our American news sources, but I think I just read that
the US dollar was only worth .65 of the Canadian dollar. That's a big
turn around from a few years ago when an American dollar was like
$1.25 in Canada.

At any rate, save your money and download Ubuntu. It will do
everything you need and faster. And you won't have to deal with all
that nasty file fragmentation that is built into all the windoze OS's
because they're still using a file system from the 80's.

OK - Get on it. Go talk to Microsoft, Amazon, and the Canadial retailers
and ge them to act right away. I will look in the paper next week to see if
prices have come down.

Oh no. Another Ubuntu blow hard. You think that TOY OS will save the
world? Ubuntu is FREE and people just ignore it. They might try it out,
then when the see what a POS it is, Ubuntu is immediately wiped from the PC
and a normal OS (Like XP) is put back.

You read incorrectly. The dollars are roughly par.

Toy OS, that's funny. I develop on Linux and deploy to Linux and Unix
for all the end users running windoze who can't even find a file after
they save it and Linux is the toy. Get a clue, dude.

No more later.

If you think thats bad, here in South Africa it's even worse. Vista Home
Basic, -from the nation distributors that only sell to resellers-, costs
R 912.00, which is around US $134. Vista x64 Ultimate is R 2340.00, or
around US $ 340.00!

And this is the price I pay. I still need to add a markup before I can
resell the products to consumers!

At least with amazon.com the answer is simple, order from Amazon in
the US and pay the US price but have it shipped to Canada.

Don't you need to pay a duty fee to Canada to import product from the US?
