How do I reinstall my OEM Windows Vista if I had to swap out the hard drive?

I have a OEM version of Windows Vista. The hard drive failed and I had to reinstall the OS. Unfortunately, when I try to enter the product key on the side of the case it says it is invalid. Any help?

(The manufacturer was Compaq, if that helps.)
