ACEEng
Server 2012R2
- security updates are current
- runs MS SQL db
- no A/D, DNS, DHCP on this server
Issue:
this server works well. However, recently I put a new backup program on the server (one I use on many other servers and desktops). The program installed with no issues. When running the software to setup the backup schedule, I noticed the drop-down boxes were not working, the scroll button to accept a time (simple 1 through 24) would run all the way from 1 to 24 and vice-versa. The drop-down to pick either local or network backup would not click to let me choose (also choosing via first letter did not work).
I contacted the software vendor. They thought I was crazy of course until they remoted into the server and saw it for themselves.
They suggested uninstalling the software (did that already) but also run a utility from them to removed all remnants of the software. Did as they suggested, reinstalled the software, same thing.
Next I used a previous version of the their software. Same thing as it is more check boxes and I can type directly into the lines. However I just tried to change a counter (a scroll box for 1 to 1024) it goes from 1 to 1024 even when I'm not holding down the mouse button. Same thing for backward.
Suggestions: .NET problem? Active-X?
Been doing computers a long time - never seen this ghost/gremlin before.
Thanks,
Darryl
