MY GMAIL HAS BEEN CORRUPTED BY A CYRILLIC LANGUAGE

I run my PC on XP Pro SP2 and use the email address
bigron2006@gmail.com as an alternate email address to cut down on
spam, etc.in my real life email
Recently it has somehow become corrupted and displays everything in a
strange, Cyrillic type language (except the email messages, which are
in English)
I tried reinstalling Gmail to no avail, and I cannot find a language
selector. I have also checked my settings in Regional Languages
(Control Panel)
Your help would be much appreciated.

How are you accessing Gmail? Apart from online via Internet Explorer, do you
mean you read it with Outlook Express, ie is that what you mean by
*reinstalling it*? Can you read it online with Mozilla Firefox? What does it
look like *online* in one or both those browsers? Eg if okay, then we're
talking about purely an Outlook Express issue, are we not?

And - just out of interest - why are you posting an XP question to the
pre-eminent Windows Millennium Edition newsgroup?

There is no way to "re-install" GMail or even "install", or "uninstall" it.
There are two ways to access GMail:

1. Web Broswser (MS Internet Explorer, or other.)
2. Email client (MS Outlook Express, or other.)

For item 2 to work, the user must take some steps at the Google Mail site
(using the browser) to set up the account for client access. After which one
cofigures the email client for POP3/SMTP access.

For web browser access (I am looking at my account using Opera 9.21), at the
upper right of the screen, next to my GMail address, are three links:

Settings
Help
Sign Out

The Settings page has links, as tabs, across the top. On the General link,
the first item up is: "Language" and a drop down menu with a list of
languages to select. Mine is currently set at, "English (US)".

Heh - I thought of re-casting that tag in Stone, Paper, Knife context
