My computer locked down last night with a warning that someone had hacked me and that I should not shut down. I called the customer service number that appeared on the notice which appeared to be from windows edge. The tech informed me he was not from Microsoft but a contractor for them, Turns out as far as I can tell from a invoice to be akminfotechnology. He convinced me that the only way to protect my sensitive info was to install a firewall domain, That if I just shut it down and restarted in a day I would still have the hacker in there. I didn't know what to do so against better judgement I allowed them to go in and fix this. He installed Ad Guard Blocker from the Windows store and also added Chrome browser. Then charged $199 plus tax for one year protection and tried to get me to pay more for additional years. I was trying to call Microsoft at the same time and briefly got a tech but lost her before I could find out anything. Then when I called back they were closed. She did start a work number though. So is this company legit with Microsoft or have I been scammed. He left me his name numbers and extension even put a link to customer service on so it seamed real.
