Been working with a team that needs Excel installed on an applications server (2012 R2) that uses Access Runtime 2016 for database connectivity. Our Office installs are Click-to-Run flavor and I modified the configuration.xml to only install Excel. At first the install failed since the Access Runtime was already there - so we removed the Access Runtime, installed Excel and then reinstalled Access Runtime 2016. When I had the user test it, he said the ODBC drivers were not there (?) - I also tried a custom .xml install that included both Excel and Access, which he said was also missing ODBC. I always thought ODBC Data Sources were under Windows Administrative Tools and not part of an Office install.
My question is: can a stand-alone, Click-to-Run version of Excel be installed on Server 2012 R2 that needs to have Access Runtime 2016 installed for an application?
Thanks!
