manuleka

recently updates apple softwares (itune/quicktime) and i downloaded
something from a site, can't remember what it was and my antivirus

activex object 2.07 or something like that... it somehow automatically
install antivirus pro that pops up all the time... windows defender
warned me to restart the system, so i did so..

when i log into windows (vista) my explorer keeps restarting every 10
seconds or so...

has anyone experience this before?

i'm boot into ubunutu (which i regularly use now adays) to post this
from...

i ran windows malicious program remover from their website and it
reported a trojan which it removed (before this norton antivirus didn't
report sh**)

i restarted and explorer still playing up ((

help help, i don't wannt reinstall vista... i'm dual booting with
ubuntu... and worse i didn't have any restore points

Well gee, you're a real genius there aren't you! You were warned about
it and yet YOU STILL INSTALLED IT!?!?!?!?!?!

I have exactly the same problem, from the same exe file. but was not warned
about it , can't even access system restore. this is becoming VERY annoying
managed to get rid of virus protect pro or what ever it is , and 6 viruses,
but explorer restarting is still happening.

it is time this problem was addressed asp as it seems to be getting more and
more widespread it happened to me about 4 months ago . i solved it by
restoring to before i installed a program(can't remember what it was ) that
worked ,by the way it isn't anything to do with virus's,trojan's ect it is
program compatibility,so anti virus wont have any effect . there are hundreds
of posts in this forum and others about this problem ,indeed i replied only
yesterday to one ..mmmm and the day before ,oh and the day before also .As i
said in previous posts there are lots of ''cures''but they all boil down to
restore and if you've been silly enough to run vista without making any
restore points then it probably will mean a re-install

I have tried restoring, and it is having none of it. there were restore
points automatically created from when i updated the system. that date back
to around 2 weeks ago. iv tried every one of these working from the most
recent to the first (if you get me) and i still get the same problem. Windows
need to sort this fcuking problem out, and Im not going to be happy if i have
to re-install as i have no backup of my most recent information/ documents/
because of this problem, I also think its a joke that they charge you £40 for
technical support after 90 days from activation for Vista , and charge on the
second call for any other OS .

Yeah, I had it happen, when I had no business installing an ActiveX control
that was not Vista compatible. It started Explore blowing and restarting.

Luckily, HP software on this HP laptop started telling me that Restore
Points were not active and did I want to active it. I did that the day
before I installed that ActiveX control. And I was able to restore to a
point prior to that ActiveX being introduced to the system.

You installed something that is not Vista compatible and it's blowing
Explore. You don't have any restore points and you're hosed.

Don't blame Vista, because after all, it was you sitting behind the mouse
doing the clicking.

You start downloading things then make sure it's safe and go to rebuttable
sites, that have Vista compatible software.

Sorry man, your situation is hosted. Malware has compromised the machine and
it's over.

I don't think MS tech support can get you out of the situation you're in at
the present time.

You may want to only install Vista compatible software from reputable sites,
and practice safe hex.

Thanks for all the information you guys have given. I got home from work
today, and started up my laptop to begin the task of trying to fix the
problem, Norton and Windows defender kicked up a fuss about a couple of
trojans and imcompatible software, (which it had never done before), and
requested a restart. So i restarted and the problem has gone. As for the
system restore, yes it did successfully restore, which is what i found
strange that the problem still persisted.

I guess i was lucky that the system managed to "sort itself out", I agree
that i was doing the clicking and i do infact take back the above comments
about vista. However i was so frustrated with the problem, and reading that
people had issues due to a bug with vista, related to this problem made me
come to the automatic conclusion of "Its Microsofts fault"

I would like to say how i cured it, but i honestly dont know.

Ran Virus scans numerous times --> removed threats and mal software
restored to different restore points
Restarted the computer numerous times
Ended applications and processes that were unfamiliar.
Read suggestions on here.

Cheers once again guys
