windows Vista Home Premium

For some time now when I rip a CD to my computer it does not show any information eg Name of artist or names of individual tracks instead everything is shown as "unknown Artist". I have tried the links to retrieve info from internet etc. but without success. Could this be down to my still using my old Vista Home Premium PC and can I update my HP PC to windows 10? I am not very smart on computer matter as you can probably tell.
