Issue or question about drive mappings

This is regarding a drive mapping issue. All user computers are Windows 10.

I recently upgraded from a 2008r2 server to Server 2016 server. When I moved to the new server I changed the settings in the GPO, Group Policy Management, User Configuration, Preferences, Windows Settings, Drive Maps, and changed the setting to point to the new server. After restarting the user computers most users saw the new drive mapping.

The issue I am having is some users are still seeing the old drive mapping that points to the old server. I think those users may have had the drive mapped manually at some point by using "map network drive..." from Windows File Explorer. I have gone to each computer and "disconnected" from the old drive mapping, restarted the computer and logged in to check the drive mapping. At that point it usually does not show any drive mapping and I have to manually map the new drive. What can be causing this? Is there something leftover in the registry that is still referring to the old drive mapping and that is causing the problem? The GPO Drive Maps setting is working for most users.

thanks
