What files need to be transfered to Windows 8?

Window 8 was installed recently to a refurbished Dell. I would like to transfer files to this computer. Creating this special file using Easy Transfer did not work so I know I will have to transfer files by CD. What specific files, other than my personal files, pictures and games need to come over as well? I thought I read about how but not which files are to be transferred as well. Thank you so much for your time and solutions.
