Hi there,
We run a bunch of TS servers for our customers for them to run our software. Up until now, if we needed to transfer a customer from one 2008 R2 server to another 2008 R2 server for whatever reason, all of the user's preferences in the "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\name_of_our_software\" would follow without any issues to the new server. Of course, 2008 R2 support from Microsoft is now gone, so it was time to migrate. Now when transferring a user from a 2008 R2 server to a 2016 one, those preferences from the folder I wrote about earlier no longer works automatically, we have manually copy them.
My theories on the issue are:
1- Incompatible transfer since these 200 R2 and 2016 are too far apart in technology-wise
2- Something needs to be activated in the Active Directory (which now runs on a Windows 2016 server) in order to allow backwards compatibility transfers
3- We're running the 2008 R2 servers in English and the 2016 servers in French and there's something in the language barrier that prevents this from happening (maybe because the user folder in French is called "utilisateurs", I don't know)
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
