Power Point 2007 Help

This issue just started after years of no problems. When embedding a video or audio clip into a slide, the "play" button located inside the Custom Animation pane stopped working. The slide just "blinks". If I use the "Preview" or "Slide Show" (within the Custom Animations Pane, then it works.
