Why is Windows still prompting me to install the Windows 10 (May 2020) Update after it did finish after 16 hours requiring me to do a hard reboot to r

On Thursday afternoon at 5:00pm my time, I shut down all of my applications and initiated the pending windows update. I have an HP Envy laptop with 16GB of RAM, and Intel i7 processor and over 3TB of free disk space.

After 3 hours, I checked my computer and it said that the update was 84% completed and that I should not turn off the power on my computer. I left my computer running all night and at 11:00am the next day, the update was still stuck at 84%.

I started to research this on my phone and found that there were many reports of this update causing significant problems and the recommendation from Microsoft was to "Not install this update".

I was not able to terminate the update using Ctl+Alt+Del so I was forced to do a hard reboot by powering off my computer. Luckily, this worked and during the reboot I saw a message saying that the previous updates were being "undone" or something to that effect. After about an hour and a couple more restarts, I was able to get my computer back up and running.

Then today, 2 days later, I get promoted to install the updates again!

I went into the settings and set them to not allow updates for 35 days hoping that maybe Microsoft will have these issues fixed.

My question is, if Microsoft knows there are problems with this update and are recommending that people NOT install it, why am I still getting prompted to allow my computer to be updated?

I think that most people implicitly trust Microsoft to not wreck their computers but now I feel like I need to research the internet for issues before ever allowing another update to be run.

Since Microsoft knows everything about my computer, including the email address associated with my Microsoft account, why did they not make any effort to notify me in advance about the known problems with this update?

Why is Microsoft not disabling this update and preventing it from prompting me to install it again and probably causing the same issues?
