What is the lastest update and how long is the install?

OK, I get it, the subject is ridiculous. But, I have no idea what might be better. I had to re-install Windows a month ago which was an experience in itself. Virtually nothing worked as indicated by MS, but I managed to forge through it. I obtained all the updates (or cumulative updates) since 2017 when my Dell was manufactured, got everything put back together and it seemed OK. I also shut off automatic updates, or so I thought. But last night while I was out of the room, it started on an update. I have no idea which update since all I now have is a screen saying it is 20% done and not to turn off my PC. It was on 19% for about an hour and it's about 20 minutes into 20%. At this rate it ought to be done maybe by next Thursday.

Anyone have any idea what might be getting installed? How long it might take? Is there a way to ignore the warning about turning off the PC, come up in safe mode and recover without having to re-install Windows - again?

I'll ask about why Windows ignored shutting off automtic updates after I get my system back.

Thanks
