Can not log into Windows Xp Professional system

Hi, I cannot log into my Microsoft Windows XP Professional system. It is asking for a password, but until yesterday I have never been required to use a password. Can you help me to change this password to a new one to allow me access to my desktop PC?

I do not know the password as I have not had to do this previosly.
