I'm having trouble with opening certain JPEG files on a server running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.
The issue started to happen just now. We've been using the exact same iphone to make pictures then transfer them to the server for a long time and never had an issue with it. Do you have any suggestions other than reinstalling windows photo viewer on the problematic server? I'd rather not reinstall it because I'm afraid it wouldn't be able to open any pictures anymore if something went wrong.

- The JPEGs have been made on an iPhone and transferred to a laptop
- They can be opened with the laptop and also on any other test device (windows OS) we've tried except for the problematic server
- They cannot be opened on the problematic server with any of the default image viewer apps (windows photo viewer and paint)
- The server lacks some windows update packages but none seems to contain any updates for windows photo viewer
- Already tried sfc /scannow but it found everything to be alright
- On the server any other JPEGs can be opened without any issue
