I have a HP Pavilion laptop running the latest version of Windows 10. I have Night Light set to turn on at 9pm and off at 5am.
There's a bug that happens more often than not (though please note it doesn't happen 100% of the time; I'm not sure what's different about those nights): if I put my laptop to sleep by closing it, and Night Light is on at the time, Night Light will still be on the next time I open the computer, even if it's no longer night.
I've found a workaround for when this happens: I go into Night Light settings and adjust the warmth slider slightly. This action presumably triggers a time check in the code, because it always makes the screen colours go back to normal. However, it's really annoying to have to do this workaround most mornings, so after months of doing this I figured I should seek help here instead of just continue to tolerate a suboptimal situation.
So: why does this happen? And is there a way to prevent it, rather than having to cure it every time?
